Nordic ski clinic on Grand Mesa

Winter, at 10,000 feet, is doing just fine, thank you.

Even while Grand Junction remains hitched to a late fall, there already is plenty of winter at the Skyway Nordic trail head on Grand Mesa.

Saturday, the Grand Mesa Nordic Council is hosting one-day instructional clinics for children as young as 4 years old up to adults from beginners to advanced.

Morning adult clinics are classic technique with afternoon sessions covering skate-ski technique. Adult sessions are $25 for one, $40 for both.

Saturday’s youth ski camps include one for kids 4-8 years old (11 a.m. to noon) and another for youngsters 9 and older from 11 a.m. until 2:30 or so.

The day includes an introduction to Nordic skiing through instruction and games. Cost is $10 for half day, $15 for full day.

Skiers must supply their own equipment and lunch. Rentals are available at The Board & Buckle, 2822 North Ave.,
242-9285.
