Old Spanish lecture

The lure of the Old Spanish Trail continues, more than 150 years since traders worked their way across some of the most barren stretches of the American West, including parts of western Colorado near Grand Junction.

Tonight at 7 p.m., Colorado Canyons Association is hosting archaeologist, historian and Old Spanish Trail researcher Jon Horn as part of the association’s winter lecture series.

Horn’s firm, Alpine Archaeological Consultants in Montrose, has documented 69 miles of what’s now known as the Old Spanish National Historic Trail as it winds through Colorado.

His presentation will include some of the discoveries and how the trail has changed over the years.

The lecture is free; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
