Outside Connection: Free tour of Sand Wash

Some of the less-traveled places in northwest Colorado are yours to discover May 10 during a guided motorized tour offered by the Little Snake Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management, the Yampa Valley OHV Trailriders and Stay the Trail Colorado.

The all-day tour, open to ATVs, motorcycles and high-clearance vehicles, will explore Sand Wash Basin and its wealth of natural and cultural resources.

“We want to show people this is one of the best places to ride in northwestern Colorado, and we want to emphasize ways to enjoy riding while respecting the remarkable resources in the area such as archaeological and paleontological resources, wild horses and scenic values,” said Gina Robison, outdoor recreation planner for the BLM Little Snake Field Office in Craig.

Same-day registration begins at 8 a.m. at the BLM’s corral facility on Moffat County Road 67.

The guided ride begins at
9:15 a.m. and will last approximately six hours.

Camping is free in the area and special events are planned for Saturday night.
