Rocky Mountain Park fire 40 percent contained
ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — A 911-acre fire burning in Rocky Mountain National park is 40 percent contained.
Fire managers said today that crews are building lines on the western and southern sides of the blaze.
Officials say lightning started the fire on June 24. Erratic winds quickly spread the flames from a few acres to several hundred.
The park remains open, although one road and three trails are closed.
