Set to get wet at Animas River Days

The Animas Rivers Days raft parade fills the river with all types of water craft. This year’s River Days are Thursday though Sunday. Matt Gearhart/Special to the Sentinel

There’s nothing like a little whitewater rodeo to get your river spirits up, and Durango has just the thing you need.

The 2013 Animas River Days are Thursday through Sunday, and there is something for anyone who wants to get wet or just watch others getting wet.

Face shots are free at the Inflatable Rodeo on Saturday sponsored by Mild to Wild Rafting of Durango. The rodeo is open to everyone and everything that floats through Clock Tower Rapid in the Durango Whitewater Park.

Other events include various stand-up paddleboard races, freestyle kayak rodeo, and downriver race.

A guided Animas River Days Parade is set for Saturday evening, with rafts and other watercraft available for rent from Mild to Wild, 970-247-4789.

There’s also live music, a Doggie Dress-up contest, and a visit or two to the Ska Brewery beer garden.

All of which means you can get wet inside and out at the Animas River Days.
