Daniels scholarship deadline Nov. 15
The deadline is Nov. 15 for motivated college-bound high school seniors in Colorado to apply online for the Daniels Scholarship Program.
Each year, approximately 250 new Daniels Scholars are selected from among thousands who apply. Students go through a rigorous application, interview and selection process. Those selected for the program have the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any nonprofit accredited college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the college journey.
The scholarship is not a full ride, but rather “last dollar” and are intended to cover the unmet needs of the student.
Eligibility requirements and more information is at DanielsFund.org.
Programs help parents review school meals
School District 51 has several avenues for parents to access their child’s menu selections, pay for meals and update accounts.
From ParentBridge, parents can access a third-party program called MyPaymentsPlus, which lets parents track their students’ food and meal purchases as well as maintain and download funds to meal account balances.
When set up, MyPaymentsPlus can email parents a reminder when student accounts reach a low balance. ParentBridge accounts can be set up for any parent.
Parents may also submit free and reduced-price meal applications online. Visit http://www.d51schools.org to access the application or go to http://www.ApplyForLunch.com. Families who had free or reduced meal benefits in the 2012–13 school year need to reapply by Sept. 20 in order to maintain those benefits for the current school year.
