Trail users can give back with committee service

Hikers walk a narrow ledge along a public trail in southwestern Colorado. The state has a complex system of trails and the state trails committee is looking for members to represent the Western Slope.

Sometimes, you have give a little to enjoy a lot.

A lot of trails, in this case, and giving means volunteering for the area’s State Trails Committee.

The district committees are part of the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife, and the District 3 committee represents most of the Western Slope.

Each committee has nine volunteer members serving, I mean, enjoying a four-year term.

Anyone with an interest in the health and well-being of Colorado’s trails, from hikers to horse riders to motorized users, is invited to volunteer.

WHAT: Volunteer for the State Trails Committee, District 3

WHERE: The district includes most of the Western Slope, including Grand Junction and Pueblo

WHO: Anyone “with the goal of working cooperatively for trails and greenways,” says the DWP.

HOW: Apply by July 29 at
