BLM needs volunteers
 for trail work in Bookcliffs

Volunteers are needed May 4–5 to help finish a loop trail in the Bookcliffs north of Fruita.

The trail, which has not yet been named, will be available to mountain bikers, horses, hikers and dirt bikers once it opens.

Volunteers can register at https://fw.civicore.com/voc/index.php?section=opportunities&action=view2&fwID=20762.

Volunteers need to be prepared for strenuous work. They will have to hike at least a mile and a half over steep terrain to get into the site, according to the Bureau of Land Management.  Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday and end at 4 p.m. Sunday. Free camping and live music will be available Saturday. Meals will be provided from breakfast Saturday until lunch Sunday.

Contact Fran Parker at 244-3031 for information about volunteering for this project or other BLM land projects.
