Suspect refused to exit

Grand Junction police officers called in a SWAT team after a man wanted on a warrant for domestic violence-related charges initially refused Saturday to a leave a home.

Jason Garringer, 29, exited the home at 635 Bluegill Drive after a brief standoff about 8 p.m., according to the Grand Junction Police Department. Garringer was wanted on an arrest warrant for incidents that allegedly occurred Friday including stalking, felony menacing and a violation of a protection order, police said.

He was reported to be in the home on Bluegill Drive armed with a handgun and knives when he refused to exit, police said. After the standoff, he was arrested without incident. Garringer now faces additional charges of failing to leave a residence when ordered by police, possession of drugs and introducing a controlled substance into jail, police said.

 

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

■ Damage of $1,000 was caused March 25 to a trailer in the 600 block of North First Street.

■ Tabitha Powell, 21, Steven Edling, 30, and Jonathan Sale, 22, all of Grand Junction, received summonses Thursday in the area of 12th Street and North Avenue on suspicion of skateboarding where prohibited, disregarding a traffic light, suddenly leaving a curb and being intoxicated in a roadway.

■ Items valued at less than $500 were stolen Wednesday from a vehicle in the 900 block of Northern Way.

■ Adam Henry, 28, received a summons Friday on suspicion of indecent exposure after urinating in public at 539 Colorado Ave.

■ Items valued at less than $20,000 were stolen Wednesday from a vehicle parked in the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue.

■ Items valued at less than $500 were stolen Thursday from two vehicles parked in the 2600 block of Amber Spring Way.

■ Cameron Wallace, 18, Grand Junction, received a summons Saturday on suspicion of drinking alcohol in the 500 block of Chipeta Avenue.

■ Yvette Dores, 46, Grand Junction, received a summons Saturday on suspicion of trespassing after being told to leave at 929 Pitkin Ave.

■ Tavara Seals, 32, who was wanted on a warrant, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempting to steal items valued at less than $100 from Walmart, 2545 Rimrock Ave.

 

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department did not release any crime reports Sunday.
