CMU nordic ski team wins Air Force 5K

The Colorado Mesa University women’s nordic ski team took three of the top four spots to win the 5-kilometer skate Sunday in the Air Force Invitational at Snow Mountain Ranch near Fraser.

Senior Brooke Bosman led the Mavericks with a second place finish in 16 minutes, 6 seconds. Freshman Mira Hopkins took third and sophomore Kacie McCleary was fourth to give Mesa nine points. Wyoming took second with 12 points and the Air Force was third with 27.

The Mesa men’s team placed second in the 5K skate led by senior Tre Anastasia’s second place finish in 13:42. Duncan Koehn was seventh.

Wyoming won the team title with nine points. Mesa scored 25. Air Force was third with 27.

Anastasia led the Mavericks in Saturday’s 15-kilometer Classic with a third place finish in 56:23. Duncan Koehn was eighth.

Mesa placed second with 26 points. Wyoming won the team title with 10 points led by individual winner Patrick Rodgers (53:07).

Wyoming won the women’s 15K Classic with eight points. Mesa was second with 15 and Air Force was third with 24.

Bosman placed second in 1:06:05, nearly two minutes behind Wyoming’s Catherine Schmidt.

Hopkins placed sixth and McCleary was seventh.
