Collegiate career continues for Bingaman
CMU golfer selected to play in regional tournament May 6-8
Brandon Bingaman’s professional golf dreams will have to wait.
The Colorado Mesa University senior’s collegiate career will continue at least for one more tournament.
Bingaman was selected to participate in the NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional tournament May 6-8 at the Home Course in DuPont, Wash.
“I’m really proud of Brandon and the team and how they handled adversity and grew from it,” CMU coach Paul Brown said. “Now, we’ve got to try to get Brandon to think like a champion and win it instead of just compete in it.”
Bingaman needs to finish in the top two among players not on a top five team for an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II national championships May 20-24 at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.
“He’s had a consistent spring,” Brown said. “He missed the first tournament with a back injury, but has played well since then.”
Bingaman had six top 10 finishes and four top five finishes in seven tournaments this spring, including three second-place finishes.
He tied for fifth place at the RMAC Championships earlier this week. He is a three-time All-RMAC selection.
The NCAA will announce the Division II women’s golf regional teams and individuals on Monday. Colorado Mesa is not ranked in the region.
