Design Directions: Silver accents
SILVER. It’s novel and shiny, but comfortable. Accessorizing with silver is a strong theme in fall home decorating.
I welcome it with open arms as it brings light and glimmer to our “neutral world.” Now, I’m not knocking the neutral color scheme, believe me, but I do love to see the invigorating kick that silver accents offer a room full of earth tones and heavy textures such as burnished leathers and heavy distressed woods.
The best part about it is you don’t have to spend a lot to incorporate it into your home and it works well in all rooms. It looks amazing when paired with glass vases that are filled with gourds, leaves, twigs or any other natural element to combine the simplicity of clear glass with the sophistication of silver. Remember to simplify the room that you are changing; with these elements less is definitely more. An excellent way to bring the shine of silver into a space is to replace the lighting. Floor lamps, table lamps and chandeliers can be found in all shades of silver and a variety of styles.
Tip for your kitchen
Retire your chickens.
Display silver bowls, vases, candlesticks or platters instead.
