Finding our roots
Karen Cummings & Pamela Blythe
Our home is our foundation; we spend the majority of our quality time in our home. Designing our living space to fit our lifestyle is the most important “rule” of design. Our surroundings should enhance our quality of life, not take away from it. Interior design trends seem to perfectly follow the idea of expression through simple lines and colors. This spring, interior design trends are showing a great respect for family values and roots through vintage elements and colors that remind us of the past.
Simplicity will always be a timeless trend. Having a minimalist approach to designing and going back to the roots with neutral colors is the ultimate choice for this spring. White, beige, gray or khaki are the shades that seem to shout balance and comfort. On the other hand we also have ‘80s-inspired vibrant colors along with pastel interiors, as you may have noticed, the color mint is everywhere. Try accessories in bold shades of red, orange, fuchsia, turquoise and yellow that will undoubtedly bring optimism into your daily life.
This spring is all about natural when it comes to materials. Sustainable woods will be used for furniture and flooring, bringing a more sensual look to those severe geometrical shapes and minimalist designs. Any space with organic style will definitely become the ultimate symbol of refinement and harmony. Since decor trends are dominated by a look in the past, we will also see neoclassical design featuring calming colors such as cream, stone, gray, and pale blue. This spring is really about personal taste and choices…. do what makes you feel good.
