Catching a big fish, and having someone to record the moment, is just one of the many things for which outdoors lovers have to be thankful. Here, guide John Wix of Smoking River Guides captures the moment for Todd Tanner, editor of Sporting Classics magazine.

This week’s Outside Connection is about giving thanks for something many of you do every day.

Give thanks this week and every week for the outdoors recreation we enjoy year-round, from the world-class fishing, hunting, biking, Serpents Trail-hiking, river-running, mountain climbing, backcountry camping, birding, dog-training, desert-ratting, ATV-riding, skiing, lake-swimming, paddle-boarding, four-wheeling and snowmobiling to all those other pursuits you dream about but never seem to have the time to enjoy.

Be especially thankful for those who first shared the outdoors with you.

And thanks, too, for reading The Daily Sentinel.

WHAT: Participating in Colorado’s endless outdoor recreation

WHEN: 24/7, 365 days a year

WHERE: Right outside your door

HOW: “The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one’s feet.” — Laozi
