July 4 fireworks show in Fruita.

The Grand Valley community heartily celebrates its fruits and veggies, music and heritage.

There are numerous festivals and events to attend during the summer. Here are some to keep in mind:

Thursday Night Concert Series — These free concerts are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays from June 2 through Aug. 11 at Civic Center Pavilion in Fruita. (Yummy note: The Fruita City Council Ice Cream Social is June 30).

Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival — This music festival with a long lineup takes place along the banks for the Colorado River on June 10–12 at Riverbend Park, 451 Pendleton St., in Palisade.

Fruita Farmers Market — There are vendors from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from June 11 through Sept. 17 at Fruita Civic Center Park at the corner of Peach and Aspen in Fruita. There is entertainment from 9–11 a.m.

Palisade Sunday Market — This market has produce, artisans, crafters, musicians and wineries from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays from June 12 to Oct. 23 at the intersection of Third and Main streets in Palisade.

Country Jam USA  — This four-day country music festival is set for June 23–26 at Country Jam Ranch in Mack.

Fourth of July — There are plenty of places and ways to celebrate Independence Day:

Fruita Independence Day Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. July 3 and can be seen from about anywhere in Fruita as they are shot off from Snooks Bottom Open Space.

Independence Day Parade will be July 4 in downtown Grand Junction.

Fourth of July on the Monument has climbers ascending 450-foot Independence Monument in Colorado National Monument and placing the U.S. flag on top.

Palisade Reds, Whites, & Blues Festival will be July 3–4 followed by the annual Independence Day celebration on July 4, with a parade, fun games and food in Palisade Memorial Park.

Colorado Lavender Festival — From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15–17, this festival features guided bus tours of lavender farms, a festival in Palisade Memorial Park and self-guided lavender farm tours.

Dinosaur Days — With two days to be crazy for dinosaurs, this event features a 7K race, activities and more on July 29–30 at Dinosaur Journey Museum, 550 Jurassic Court, in Fruita.

Grand Valley Performing Arts Festival — This festival is set for Aug. 5–6 in Robinson Theatre at Mesa State College’s Moss Performing Arts Center.

Palisade Peach Festival — A peachy good time can be had at this 43rd annual festival from Aug. 18–21 at Riverbend Park in Palisade.

Rock Jam Music Festival — This rock ‘n’ roll festival is from Aug. 26–27 at Country Jam Ranch in Mack.

Barbecue and Blues — This is the fourth year for this festival with blues bands and headliner The Hazel Miller Band, vendors and fireworks. It begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 3 at Gateway Canyons Resort in Gateway.

Colorado Pork ‘n’ Hops Barbecue Challenge — Have a rib-roaring good time this event Sept. 9–10 at Lincoln Park. There is a barbecue competition and live music.

Colorado Mountain Winefest — Savor the fruit of the vine Sept. 15–18. The main event will be at Riverbend Park in Palisade with numerous wineries represented and gourmet food.

Fruita Fall Festival — Enjoy the coming of fall with carnival rides, live music, a youth pet and talent show, bed race, parade, baking and canning contest and Art in the Park from Sept. 23–25 in downtown Fruita.

Bikes, Bands and Brews — Food, dancing, biking as well as a 5K run/walk will be Oct. 14–15 in Fruita.
