Where did you grow up?
I was born on 10 Road in Mack. I grew up in Fruita, Grand Junction, Rifle, Uravan and Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo., and Bishop, Calif.

Family:
My daughter and son-in-law are Lynn and David Traylor. My son and daughter-in-law are Tim and Dawn Dawson-Garber. My partner of 15 years is D.J. Hubbard.  My parents were Wanetta & Bob MacTaggart (see photo below).

What do you enjoy most about living in the Grand Junction area?
I enjoy the mountains, all the sunshine and the people in Grand Junction! I love to square and round dance. While my children were growing up, as a family we enjoyed  hiking, skiing, riding motorcycles, jet skiis, and camping. We also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

How long have you worked in real estate?
I started working in real estate in April 1976.  I still love this business and the people I meet.

What would you consider your specialty?
My specialties are in residential and investment real estate.

Do you have any accreditations or certifications?
I have received many certifications in many areas including –Buyers Agent Council (REBAC), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Real Estate.  I have also taken many classes over the years from CMU, Tony Robbins, and Peak Potentials, in order to challenge myself  and continue my personal and professional growth.

What is the most challenging/ gratifying aspect of what you do?
I love that every transaction is different, every person is different. I love seeing happy customers and clients, and being part of making that happen. My purpose in all aspects of my life, is learning and giving. My favorite part of my job is helping my customers fulfill their dreams when buying and selling real estate.

What is the most unique property you’ve ever listed or sold?
I listed a small home on an acre of beautiful exotic flowers and a huge, REAL bomb shelter. I remember in the 50s my folks talking about the pros and cons of building such a shelter. This owner did and it was the best one I had seen.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy a home today?
Work with a Realtor with whom you’re comfortable — someone who is willing to put in the time and effort needed to find the property that fits your needs, who also has the know-how to tackle any challenges that arise or the resources and ability to find a solution. Also, get pre-qualified with your favorite lender.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a home today?
Again, work with a Realtor with whom you are comfortable. Be up front and honest with your agent about why you are selling so he/she can plan the best way to make it happen. Make your home clean and clutter free. If possible do some deferred maintenance. Be realistic about the market.

What do you see in the future of real estate sales/prices?
We have finally stopped going down each month and we will have a slow recovery — it WILL recover!

Why should someone use you as a real estate agent?
Because I know what really matters.  Real estate transactions are important but the people — the buyers and sellers are more important. I want people to know, that I care about them, first.  My customers will tell you – I always go the extra mile to help!
