When the dust settles and the smokes clears, it’s easy to see there is plenty for the gearheads in western Colorado.

Whether it’s on two wheels or four wheels, there are options for riding. There is plenty of room to ride in the area of 29 Road and the desert, just north of Interstate 70, the Bangs Canyon Recreation Area south of Grand Junction, Rabbit Valley in McInnis Canyons National Recreation Area west of Mack, on Grand Mesa and the Uncompahgre Plateau.

Lands End Hill Climb — Taking place Aug. 6–7, this is one of five races in series with the Colorado Hill Climb Association.

Western Colorado Dragway — The dragway, 115 32 Road, runs through September with events, and there are races every night Thursday through Saturday. Friday night features street legal drag racing from 8 p.m. to midnight. Info: www,, 243-9022.
