Light Gives Heat sponsors free Summer Bike-in Series

In partnership with World Bicycle Relief, the local nonprofit Light Gives Heat is holding a Summer Bike-in Series to encourage people to hop on their bikes and use that mode of transportation as a fun activity.

World Bicycle Relief seeks to distribute bicycles and teach people to maintain those bikes in regions of poverty or disaster-stricken areas.

The free Light Gives Heat Summer Bike-in Series begins with its first event at 7 p.m., Friday, July 8, at Light Gives Heat, 2507 Weslo Ave., which is off 25 Road.

Singer/songwriter Tim Brown will perform. Home Style Bakery is providing pastries and other refreshments. And there will be give-aways.

The next Summer Bike-in will be 7 p.m. July 22, with various artists scheduled to perform. Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A will provide refreshments.

Light Gives Heat works to empower, most notably, African women by giving them a steady income through the creation of fashionable accessories and handbags that Light Gives Heat sells at its warehouse and online at hope.lightgivesheat.org.
