Where did you grow up?
I grew up on a large farm in Holly, Colorado  My parents instilled the philosophy of “no worky – no eaty.”

Family:
I have been married to Hayden Washington for seven wonderful years. Between us we have daughters in Washington and Texas and a son in South Carolina. We have six grand children.  I have two brothers and two sisters.

What do you enjoy most about living in the Grand Junction area?
The Grand Junction community offers four distinct seasons with very few extremes, available health care, education opportunities, cultural events, sports events, and the great outdoors. I also like the fact that the community members strongly support the nonprofits that provide many services to those in need.

How long have you worked in real estate?
I have been licensed since 1978.  I came to Grand Junction to frame houses in 1977. A team roping accident changed my career.

What would you consider your specialty?
As a managing broker of a small firm, I work transactions primarily in residential, but I really like working with investors and analyzing the numbers.  I am also involved with property management.

Do you have any accreditations or certifications?
Education is a must for appropriately serving your clients.  My designations that came with the quest for knowledge are GRI, ABR, SRS, SRES, AHWD, SFR, and MRE.  I am half way through my CCIM classes.

What is the most challenging/ gratifying aspect of what you do?
It is heartwarming to see happy people at the close of a transaction.

What is the most unique property you’ve ever listed or sold?
The most unique and difficult transaction was a 14,000-acre ranch with many complexities involving water rights, endangered species, livestock, brand transfers, personal equipment, multiple dwellings, hunting leases, and mineral rights.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a home today?
Choose a REALTOR who will guide you objectively in marketing your home with the right price and presentation.

Why should someone use you as a real estate agent?
Real estate is not only a home, but an investment. I counsel buyers and sellers prior to their decision time. I bring knowledge of new regulations that affect home ownership from involvement at the national level. I work hard to get my clients the best deal for now and for the future.
