Lines West: March 8
Paper Man
I made a little paper man.
He’s zigzagging from head to toe
and has a giant mouth that covers most of his head.
Even though it’s a monstrous mouth,
it is completely useless.
All the work it does
is always just plain fruitless.
He doesn’t have organs, lungs, or anything like us.
He can’t punch, but he can paper cut.
He does a wonderful job
at bending too low, then flying up high
unfolding like that, and soaring away with grace and skill
far from where we are.
I really enjoy my paper man,
just because he’s simple.
