Registration available for water course

Registration is now available for the water course offered by the Water Center at Colorado Mesa University.

The three-day class, which begins Feb. 3 and continues Feb. 10 and Feb. 17, will include an overview of water planning in the Colorado River Basin and of Colorado water law and the 1922 compact among seven states.

The final day will feature Mike King, executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, leading a discussion about Gov. John Hickenlooper’s proposed state water plan. Planning for the Gunnison River Basin also will be discussed.

The cost is $45 for all three sessions, or $20 per session. Registration is available at http://www.coloradomesa.edu/watercenter. Classes will be conducted in the CMU Center ballroom.

Bureau of Reclamation moves offices

 

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has moved its offices to downtown Grand Junction.

The Western Colorado Area Office of the bureau is now at 445 W. Gunnison Ave., Suite 221, the former Gene Taylor’s Sporting Goods building. Phone numbers for the office are unchanged.

Spring Creek Road to be closed

 

Montrose County Public Works will close Spring Creek Road, between 6200 Road and 6175 Road, starting Monday for culvert replacement. 

The road is expected to be closed one to two weeks. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
