Mesa County Fair set for July 19-23
The 124th annual Mesa County Fair, with the theme “Summer Days & Country Ways,” is set for July 19–23 at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 U.S. Highway 50.
The 2011 Mesa County Fair Open Class books are now available. Open class exhibit categories range from fine arts and crafts — jewelry and sculpture to woodworking, poetry and quilting.
Any Mesa County resident can compete for ribbons in the open class exhibit with everything from your favorite pound cake or pickle recipe to home grown fruits and vegetables and home-raised eggs.
Expect to see plenty of livestock at the fair as well with various organizations and clubs showing their entries.
Along with the regular fair exhibits, there will be plenty of entertainment along with the carnival.
New this year is the Express Clydesdale Hitch featuring magnificent Clydesdale horses.
Returning to the fair this year will be the Frisbee Dogs, a popular canine performance with air-o-dynamics.
There also will be belly dancing, bands, fire dancers, poetry, fireworks, a Centennial Band concert, lawn-mower races, rodeo events and a tractor pull.
