Where did you grow up?
I grew up on a farm in western Kansas. The closest town was 30 miles away. My parents had a dairy plus stock cattle and dry farm ground. I moved to Colorado Springs, CO to attend college. My husband and I moved to Grand Junction in 1977. I worked for City Market in the advertising department for 23 years starting as a secretary and moving up to the Director of Advertising.

Family:
Husband, Bill and son Matthew. Our daughter, Trista, passed away 15 years ago leaving us with our grandson, Jeremiah. We also have a granddaughter – Natalia.

What do you enjoy most about living in the Grand Junction area?

I love the four seasons, the lifestyle, gardening, the hiking and the people. We love the outdoors and the wonderful people that live here in the valley. I love flowers and my husband and son are always trying to think of ways to pare them down a little.

How long have you worked in real estate?
I’ve been in real estate for almost 8 years! I initially started my own property management company and after two years sold it and began selling real estate full time. I teamed up with Dianne Dinnel about three years ago and we’ve been going gang busters ever since. And, that’s even with the recession. We work hard, long hours and we love it!

What would you consider your specialty?

We put customers FIRST. We are constantly striving to do our job better and professionally.  Last year we started the Grand Junction Real Estate Team and now have a full time assistant and two full time buyer’s agents. We love putting buyers and sellers together. I list homes and love working with first time home buyers and seniors. They are so much fun, honest and they put their trust and faith in you. I work hard to make sure their dreams come true.

Do you have any accreditations or certifications?
I have my GRI (Graduate of the Realtor Institute), SRS (Sellers Real Estate Specialist) and SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist). I’m working on my CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) and CNE (Certified Negotiations Expert).

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?

We are constantly striving to be better at our job, learning and improving how we do things. No two days are ever the same. No two deals are ever the same. We love helping buyers and sellers accomplish their goals.

What is the most unique property you’ve ever listed or sold?

I helped a buyer purchase a home on Glade Park that was not finished and went back to the bank. That same buyer eventually sold the property in the same condition that it was purchased. It was a challenge selling a home with no walls, plumbing, heating, etc. Fun, interesting but a challenge.

Describe your most memorable real estate transaction.
Sitting at the closing table after signing all the papers and being told by the title company that the buyer’s earnest money check had bounced. Even though the buyers had provided proof to their lender that it had cleared the bank. The transaction ended up taking a few days longer but we got it closed. Very stressful for everyone.

What is the one tip you have for someone looking to buy a home today?

Find a Realtor you believe in and trust. Let them help you. Get pre-qualified with a reputable lender. Interest rates are still very low. Call 244-9222.

What do you see in the future of real estate sales/prices?
Our crystal ball doesn’t always work well but we believe there are good days ahead, economically. It might take some time but it will happen.
