King N’Trio are the winners of the Grand Junction Rotarian Club Service Above Self award. Band members from left to right are Chris Unfug, Russ Williams, David Durham and Merritt Kinsey.

The Rotary Club of Grand Junction honored several of its own Wednesday.

At its weekly luncheon meeting at Two Rivers Convention Center, the group named its Rotarian of the year and members who have gone above and beyond in serving the local community.

The group awarded two Service Above Self Awards, the first to the four-man local musical group, The King ‘n Trio.

The band members, all of whom met through the Rotary Club, raised more than $200,000 last year for charity through their performances.

Members of The King’n Trio are: acoustic guitar player Russ Williams, bass player Merritt Kinsey, mandolin/banjo/guitar player Chris Unfug and acoustic guitar player David Durham.

The group’s individual service award went to Dan Roberts, the retiring chief financial officer of Mays Concrete, and past president of the Rotary.

Roberts has served on numerous boards and committees during his time in town. He and his wife, Jackie, plan to retire in Arizona.

The group also honored longtime member Gwen DeCino as Rotarian of the Year, primarily for her tireless service to the club since joining in 2007.
