SLEEP
Your bedroom should be the most calming, comforting, and soothing place in your home. It’s the place you escape to at the end of every day to relax and in some cases it is your only space for privacy. Despite the fact that we spend about a third of our lives in this space, it is often the most overlooked. The key is to have a place for everything.
Bedroom Basics
Color, texture, lighting and decorative details are the simplest way to set the mood in your sleep chamber. Choose colors and patterns that capitalize on your qualities of choice. Certain colors are relaxing while others are stimulating: together they promote balance.
A bed that is just right will bring you hours of comfort. When you think about how much time you spend on your mattress a year, it’s one of the most important purchases you’ll ever make. Take careful measurements to find out how much square footage you can afford; you will need at least 2-3 feet on each side.
Nightstand’s are one of the most important surfaces in your home. Its role is to provide a spot to rest essentials. You can call anything a night stand as long as it’s small or large enough to fit your space. Mix and match your nightstands, tall, short, square, round, you get the point. Matching nightstands can make it look like a hotel room.
Make Your Bed
Sheets, pillowcases and duvets will play an active role in styling your bedroom. Create a visual interest by alternating the texture and patterns of your bedding. A successful bedding ensemble is one that layers colors, textures and patterns. If you are going to use the “bed in a bag” that is fine, just make sure you throw in other pillows, and blankets that are within the same color scheme but are not made out of the same material. Your best bet is not to purchase everything in the same store.
