Howard tops first JUCO poll

Defending national champion Central Alabama Community College’s baseball season is off to a slow start, with the Trojans 4-10 and out of the NJCAA Division I baseball rankings. Central Alabama, which won last year’s Alpine Bank Junior College World Series, was ranked first in the preseason poll.

Howard (Texas) College is 13-1 and ranked No. 1 in the first regular-season poll of the season. The Hawks received six of the 10 first-place votes. The other four first-place votes went to Connors State (Okla.), which is ranked second at 10-1. Delgado (La.) College is 13-1 and ranked third, followed by the State College of Florida
(12-3) and Chattahoochee (Ala.) Valley (13-1).
