Trujillo, Sullivan claim titles

Drew Trujillo chipped in from 15 feet for a birdie on the final hole Sunday to win the 31st Colorado Golf Association Western Chapter Championship at The Bridges in Montrose, his home course.

A Montrose resident and a member of the University of Colorado men’s golf team, Trujillo entered the day two strokes behind Branden Barron, who hit his second shot on No. 18 into the water and carded a double-bogey. He would have forced a playoff with Trujillo if he had made a 10-foot bogey putt on the hole.

Trujillo shot rounds of 69 Saturday and 70 Sunday to finish at three-under 139.

Meanwhile, Grand Junction’s Scott Sullivan easily won the senior championship flight, shooting 68-67 for a seven-under 135, winning by nine strokes.
