Where did you grow up? 
I was born in Venice Beach, Calif., and raised in Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley. My family spent many hours at the beach. As a child, I was part of the Meglin Kiddies, who performed at the Shrine Auditorium and the Greek Theater in southern California. Those days brought great fun and wonderful memories.

My father was born in Pulsano, Italy and my mom in Hartington, Neb. This made for a very diverse upbringing. Since my dad worked for MGM, Desilu Studios and General Services, I was privileged to have a Hollywood experience. I have my wonderful husband, Mike Moran, who earned his real estate license last year, two sons—Chad and Trent—and nine exceptional grandchildren.

What do you enjoy most about living in the Grand Junction area?
I am surrounded by culture, including the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and its many talented musicians. I thoroughly support the Avalon Project. The professional musicians we have should have a professional venue.  This community has so many artists and their talents radiate throughout the downtown corridor. Camping, playing golf on our groomed courses, hiking and other outdoor activities are also a pleasure. There are so many things to do. I enjoy involvement in the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction, to which I’ve belonged for more than 25 years, and our Heiden Homes Realty Parade of Lights social every December. I give back to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister and also serve on the finance committee. I look forward to the new addition at St. Joseph’s which we are currently fundraising for.

How long have you worked in real estate?
I became licensed in 1978 and just celebrated 35 years in the business in March. I started my own real estate company 10 years ago. Now we have a property management branch and a referral company for semi-retired agents. I thank all my loyal clients who have supported me all these years. Each day I start my morning with a prayer that God uses me to do the best for the person I am working with. I have been truly blessed all these years to be in this wonderful career.

Do you have any accreditations or certifications?
The year I became licensed, I started with the designations being offered. I have earned my GRI, (Graduate Research Institute), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), certificate of achievement in real estate from Colorado University and E-Pro. Education is so important to me.

What is the most challenging/ gratifying aspect of what you do?
The biggest challenge I had was a commercial purchase between a bank and a contiguous neighbor. Three Realtors, and two years later, I was able to make the deal happen. It closed, everyone was happy and it was a win, win, win for everyone.  My second biggest challenge was a five-property domino. Scheduling everyone’s move in and move out date took a lot of maneuvering.

What is the one tip you have for someone looking to buy a home today?
Ask lots of questions and be satisfied with the answer or ask again! Also, take time to inspect the property and be satisfied with the condition or know what your future maintenance will be.

What do you see in the future of real estate sales/prices?
My experience tells me we are in a stabilization mode. The prices may be higher than the last sale in an area, but the values are not even close to those of 2007.

Why should someone use you as a real estate agent?
I put you and your needs first. I am your hard-working Realtor. My personality goes the extra mile for service and I instill those same values in all my brokers I manage and train. I have 35 years of experience in the western Colorado real estate market and the knowledge that accompanies that experience, heavy involvement in community organizations in order to stay in touch with people’s needs and to help improve the quality of life for all, and a faith-based approach to business, because putting God first results in productive results for both the company and the community. I am proud to be a three-time winner of the Best of Grand Junction Award in the Real Estate Agents and Managers category, as named by the U.S. Commerce Association. Heiden Homes was specifically recognized for community involvement and marketing efforts.
