Bikers ride in the Bookcliffs area north of Fruita. You can volunteer to help build a loop trail in the area.

Take a hike, build a trail, feel good about yourself.

Do all three Saturday and Sunday by volunteering to work on a new loop trail in the Bookcliffs area north of Fruita.

The trail is planned as an alternative ride for mountain bikes, dirt bikes, horses and hikers and get users off a busy county road.

Be prepared. There’s a long hike to the work site, and the work will be hard. Perks include meals and live music Saturday night.

The project is a partnership between the Bureau of Land Management and Volunteers for Outdoors Colorado.

And you users of public lands, of course.
