Forum offers writing workshops for kids

In the countdown to its “Language of the Fantastic” festival, the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum will offer free writing classes for writers ages 8–18.

Forum authors Jill Burkey, Carrie Kellerby, Patrick Metoyer and Melinda Rice will teach the workshops on Saturday afternoon at Mesa County Libraries’ Central Library.

Registration for “The Language of the Fantastic,” a literary festival for writers and readers and set for

Two authors highlighted at book-signing

 

Barnes & Noble Booksellers will host two authors of young adults books for book-signings and a talk.

■ Donald Samson, author of The Star Trilogy, will sign books from 1–6 p.m. Saturday with a talk at 4 p.m.

Samson’s three fantasy books are titled “The Dragon Boy,” “The Dragon of Two Hearts” and “The Dragon, the Blade and the Tread.”

■ Aiyana Tipony, author of “The Gray Mist,” will sign books from 2–4 p.m. Saturday.

“The Gray Mist” is the first book in Tipony’s fantasy series, The Secret World Trilogy.

Barnes & Noble is at 2451 Patterson Road.
