Bridges, Padgett lead Wildcats

Drew Bridges scored 26 points Alex Padgett added 24 on Tuesday as Fruita Monument defeated Glenwood Springs 74-34.

Fruita Monument (11-2) held Glenwood Springs (7-7) to two second-quarter points.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, guard Zach Thorpe was injured in the fourth quarter.

“We’re real nervous about it being an ACL,” Fruita coach Dave Fox said. “So it’s kind of hard to feel good about anything right now.”

Padgett hit four 3-pointers for the Wildcats.

Central gave up a six-point first-quarter lead and fell 63-42 at Delta (9-5).

Central (0-15) was led by Robert Chandler and Preston Grandbouche, who scored eight points each.

Fruita knocks off Glenwood


Fruita Monument had 19 points from Lauren LaBonde to defeat host Glenwood Springs 42-39.

Fruita (6-7) also had nine points from Jessica Sinner and held Glenwood Springs (12-3) to no made 3-pointers.

“I think it’s great we held a great 3-point shooting team like that,” Fruita coach Dan Schmalz said.

Central was outscored 19-9 in the first quarter and was down 43-18 at halftime in a 71-31 loss at Delta.
