Rep. Salazar to stop in Grand Junction

• Congressman John Salazar, D-Colo., will stop in Grand Junction today as part of a campaign swing through the Western Slope.
According to the two-term incumbent’s campaign, Salazar will host his event at 7 p.m. at La Bamba Mexican Restaurant at 546 Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

Glenwood Elks to honor military

• GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge, 51939 U.S. Highway 6 & 24, will honor military personnel and their families from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 11.

Chiropractors doing annual food drive

• Roman Family Chiropractic will have its annual food drive through Nov. 21. All donations will be rewarded with a complimentary consultation and a 20-minute massage. Two full bags of nonperishable food items will receive $10 off an hour massage. For information, call 243-8896.

Choir to rake leaves free for seniors

• The Central High School Choir and Orchestra students will have a Rake-A-Thon from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 15. Students will rake leaves for seniors or disabled persons free of charge. To nominate a yard, call 314-9107.

Botanical Gardens plans decorating class

• The Botanical Gardens will have a fall decorating class from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 in the library. Cost is $15 for members and $17 for nonmembers. Materials are included. For information, call 245-3288.

Free arts, culture sourcebook available

• The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture has free copies of The Sourcebook now available. The book is a directory of area artists, dance studios and theaters. They are available at The Art Center, the parks office in Lincoln Park, the Visitor and Convention Bureau Welcome Center, and the Chamber of Commerce. For information, call 254-3865.

Voters can get $20 flu shots in GarCo

• The Garfield County Public Health Department will be offering “Vote and Vax” at polling locations in Rifle. Voters are encouraged to receive their flu shots for $20. Shots will be available at the Carbondale Recreation Center, Glenwood Springs Community Center, Rifle City Hall, the Battlement Mesa Activity Center, New Castle Community Center and the Silt Fire Station. Adopt-A-Highway cleanup on Nov. 22

• The Friends of McInnis Canyons will have an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup event beginning at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 22 at the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. Cleanup will be along Interstate 70 in Rabbit Valley. To volunteer, call 314-7364.
