Running

• Seagren wins Monument 5K

Woody Seagren finished first by seven seconds in Saturday’s Monument Downhill 5K run in Grand Junction. Seagren crossed the line in 16 minutes, 6 seconds; Jay Valentine finished second in 16:13.
Lanie Pinson was the women’s division winner in a time of 20:43.
The race down Monument Road drew 74 runners.

Golf

• Forney second at Big I

Central High School senior Loren Forney finished second in the girls division at last week’s Big I South Central Region junior tournament in Greeley.
Forney shot rounds of 78 and 77 to finish at 155, two strokes behind winner Gina Larson.
By finishing in the two two, Forney qualified for the Big I national tournament beginning July 27 in Ardmore, Okla.


High School Soccer

• Central soccer meeting tonight

The Central boys soccer team is conducting an informational meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Prospective players and their parents are encouraged to attend.
