Briefs: Local Sports May 16, 2009
• Free screening physicals being offered by School District 51 for athletes are at Grand Junction High School. Boys are May 19, girls are May 20. The district will begin assigning numbers at 4:30 p.m., screenings begin at 6 p.m. Numbers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Students can get numbers early and return for the exams at 6 p.m. Students must have an athletic screening exam form completed and signed by a parent or guardian in order to participate in the free screening. Forms are available in each high school’s athletic office and are also on the School District 51 Website.
• The Grand Valley girls lacrosse team was rewarded for their 11-1 season by having six players named to the Mountain League All-Conference team. On the first team were first home Amy Flukey, center Morgan Jueschke, point Rachel Romero and attack wing Brianna True.
Mikayla Clark and Katie Heil were both named to the second team and Robin Stevens was named coach of the year.
