• The Mesa State College women’s soccer team rebounded Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific in Honolulu.
Sherilyn Stoffel scored on an assist by Kira Brannan at 13:52 and Dany Ramirez scored in the 85th minute.
The Mavericks (7-2-0), who lost Friday night to Hawaii-Hilo, had 20 shots and three more goals called back for offsides.
Hawaii Pacific had three shots, but none on goal.
• Demianeu loses in semifinals
Renee Demianeu’s run through the ITA Central Regional tournament came to an end Sunday in Kearney, Neb.
The Mesa State College senior lost to No. 5 seed Mary Outhwaite of Nebraska-Kearney 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals. Outhwaite lost 6-2, 7-5 to No. 1 seed Marina Bugaenco of Minnesota State-Mankato in the finals.
Demianeu, the Mavericks’ No. 6 singles player, upset three seeded players, including No. 2 seed and Mesa State teammate Kate Lowder in the quarterfinals.
