Briefs: Mesa State Sports April 13, 2009

College Tennis
• Sonoma State (Calif.) University won five singles matches and two doubles matches to defeat the Mesa State men’s tennis team 7-2 in a non-conference dual Sunday in Denver.
Mesa State senior Jordan Chomko (18-7) won the only singles match for the Mavericks with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 1. Chomko and Nick Provenza (22-7) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Mesa No. 2 singles player Rashad Khamis pushed Jeremy Heckley into a third set before losing.
The Mavericks (10-8) are off until April 23 when they play Colorado Christian in Lakewood. The RMAC Championships are April 24-25 in Lakewood.
