College Track

• Mesa State is third after first event
Sierra Wiggins broke her Mesa State javelin record for the third time this season, placing fifth in the first event of the RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday in Alamosa.
The Mesa State freshman from Paonia threw the javelin 36.79 meters (120 feet, 8 inches) to score four team points.
Adams State took the top three spots and four of the top seven to lead the team standings with 26 points. Western State is second with five, New Mexico Highlands is fourth with three points and Nebraska-Kearney is fifth with one point.
The RMAC Championships continue through Tuesday.
