GET IN ON BIKE EVENTS
Bicyclists of all ages can take advantage of upcoming bike-related events in Fruita.
For the first time, the Fruita Recreation Department is having a Bike Rodeo for children of all ages on Saturday, April 18, in the Fruita Civic Center parking lot at 325 E. Aspen Ave.
The activities last from 9 a.m. to noon and are free. Tricycles to two-wheelers can ride through an obstacle course and participate in a paperboy skills challenge and other contests.
Safety first! Kids can have their helmets and bicycles checked and take part in a safe bicycle riding instruction course.
The Western Flyers will sell new children’s bike helmets for $5.

FRUITA FAT TIRE FESTIVAL
It’s that time of year again, when beer and biking become one.
The New Belgium Fruita Fat Tire Festival hosted by Over the Edge Sports is Thursday through Sunday, April 23–26.
• A VIP party for registered participants is Thursday. Daily schedules of rides will be posted at the information tent near the Fruita Civic Center.
• Friday’s entertainment includes the New Belgium Brewery beer garden and music by local band Pineapple Crackers from 6–10 p.m. at the Civic Center. No cover. The bike expo will be set up at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
• On Saturday, enjoy the Clunker Crit, a beer garden and party with the band Crashers from Las Vegas from 6–10 p.m. at the Civic Center. No cover.
• Ride the trails on Sunday.
