Fall Festival features camel, fun

Wonder Woman, aka Sara Martsolf of the Super Duper Hall of Famers team, hits a water balloon during the Fruita Fall Festival bed race in this 2007 file photo. This year’s festival fun begins Thursday, Sept. 25, and continues through the weekend.

How much does a camel weigh?

Lily the Camel awaits your guess at the Alpine Bank Fruita Fall Festival from Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 25–28, in Fruita.

Not only can you take a ride on the friendly dromedary, but by taking a guess at her, weight you can win the opportunity to ride her in a parade.

The festival begins Thursday night, Sept. 25, with the Art in the Park patron’s night for members of the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce. The judged art show features local artists exhibiting and selling their artwork.

Activities continue through the weekend and include free live music, a carnival, parade, bed race, contests, street dance, magic show, arts/crafts food, beer garden, pony rides, rodeo at Rimrock Rodeo and more.

Exit 42 plays at the street dance at 7 p.m. Friday in Circle Park. The bed race, with the theme “Super Heroes” is at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the parade is at 10 a.m. Saturday. Contra dance demos are at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. A youth pet and talent show is from 1–4 p.m. Sunday.
