Central gets first win of season

Central earned its first victory of the season, blanking Rifle 4-0 in Rifle.
Bryce Luster, Josh Pettingill, Stevie Palma and Jeff Krizman all scored first-half goals for the Warriors (1-4).
Central outshot Rifle by more than a three-to-one margin.

High School Volleyball

’Dogs rally to beat Huskies in five

Palisade earned a big road victory Thursday, defeating Battle Mountain 3-2.

After losing the first two games, the Bulldogs (5-2, 2-0 Western Slope League) came back to win the final three games 25-22, 25-17, 15-8.

Morgan Regnolds and Audrey Steinkirchner paced the offense with 12 and 10 kills respectively. On the defensive end, Mackenzie Clark had 29 digs and Reynolds 15.

High School Tennis

Doubles lift GJ past Montrose

Grand Junction remained unbeaten in duals, defeating Aspen 6-1 in a nonleague match at Grand Junction.

The Tigers (6-0) got victories from all four doubles teams.

Spencer Weinberg won his No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Bryan Mehall.

The Tigers’ only loss came at No. 2 singles, where Parker Hegstrom fell in three sets to Michael Willsky.
