Bulldogs win eighth straight soccer game

Palisade got down early, but rallied to beat Delta 4-2, running its winning streak to eight games.

The Bulldogs (9-1-1, 8-1 Western Slope League) allowed two goals in the first 10 minutes, but turned their game around to score three goals before halftime.

Palisade got goals from Flannery Davis, Natalie Combs, Hannah Etcheuery and Nicole Lashus in the win. Goalie Amelia Davis had six saves.

Junction, Fruita pick up victories

Grand Junction picked up wins in all but the No. 1 singles matchup to defeat Central 6-1.

All of the Tigers’ wins were in straight sets.

Fruita Monument also was in control, winning all but the No. 1 singles matchup to defeat Montrose 6-1.

No. 2 singles player Channing Howard blanked Erin Maloney, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Wildcats win Montrose Invitational

Fruita Monument won the Montrose Invitational at the Bridges Golf Course in Montrose.

The Wildcats’ top three golfers combined for a 270. Tymerie Ho took second with an 87. Amy Hurshman and Summer Igo shot 91 and 92, respectively.

Central’s Brittany Hoppe tied for third with a 90.

Teamwork helps GJ top Demons

Grand Junction got on the board early and shared the ball throughout, beating Glenwood Springs 12-4 at Canyon View Park.

The Tigers (7-4) had a 6-1 lead at halftime and had goals from 10 different players, including a hat trick from Zach Kiel.

Grand Junction plays at Eagle Valley today.
