Drew Beuerlein, Class A Modesto
Beuerlein was a jack-of-all-trades last year, starting the season in Grand Junction but making stops at Tri-City, Asheville and Modesto as teams needed catching depth. He was converted to a first baseman in the offseason and started 2013 in Asheville. After hitting .342 for the Tourists in 10 games, he was promoted to Class A Advanced Modesto, where he’s hitting .209 in 16 games.
Beuerlein struggled at the plate in July, hitting .187 in seven games, but he finished the month with a 2-for-4 night July 31 against Bakersfield, driving in two runs to break a 3-3 tie in the Nuts’ 6-3 victory. He also doubled and scored on an error for Modesto’s final run.
Alving Mejias, P, Asheville: A middle-relief man for the Tourists, Mejias is 3-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 28 games. He’s pitched 57 1/3 innings with 39 strikeouts and 13 walks.
Wilfredo Rodriguez, C, Tri-City: In 27 games, Rodriguez is hitting .208 with 11 RBI. He went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI on July 27 against Salem-Keizer, driving in the tying run in the Dust Devils’ 5-4 victory. He’s hitting .257 in his past 10 games.
