Central clinches fourth consecutive SWL title

Mya Murdoch and Jordyn Hays each had two hits Thursday to pace an 11-hit attack for Central, which clinched its fourth consecutive Southwestern League championship with a 13-0 victory over Montrose at Kronkright Complex.

Hailey Shaneman, Iesha Story and Shaelyn Grant each added doubles for the Warriors (15-4, 7-1 SWL), who won for the 37th time in their past 38 league games. Central had its 31-game league winning streak snapped when it split a doubleheader with Grand Junction on Sept. 26.

Jaeda Garcia’ RBI single in the third inning drove in Murdock from second base to spark a five-run third inning and give Central the lead for good.

Ashleigh Satterfield got the victory for the Warriors, allowing only one hit with one walk and six strikeouts in five innings.
