CMU hires veteran collegiate swim coach
Colorado Mesa University hired Ron Allen to coach the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program.
Allen has 17 years of college head coaching experience.
He coached 79 NCAA Division II All-Americans at the University of South Dakota from 1991 to 2005, including one national champion. In his 15 years, he was named the North Central Conference men’s coach of the year four times and the women’s coach of the year twice. The Coyotes won two conference titles.
Allen left South Dakota to coach Morningside (Iowa) College, a NAIA program, from 2005 to 2008. There, the Mustangs set 28 school records, qualified 22 individuals for the NAIA national championships and six NAIA scholar athletes.
He was the head coach of the Idaho Falls club team since 2008.
Allen replaces Brian Pearson, who will coach the CMU club program.
