CMU hits free throws, snaps losing skid

Colorado Mesa University sophomore guard Kevin Screen hits two free throws with 5.6 seconds left to lift the Mavericks to a 70-68 victory over Colorado Christian University in Lakewood.

Colton Burgon led Mesa (9-8, 7-6 RMAC) with 19 points off the bench. Mike Melillo scored 11, Shawn King had 10 and Screen added nine. The bench scored 33 points.

Colorado Christian (2-15, 1-12 RMAC) made it tough for the Mavericks as the teams exchanged leads seven times and were tied 11 times through the course of the game.

Kyle Weaver scored 18 points and Daniel Pilkington added 17 for the Cougars.
