CMU sets single-game record, defeats RMAC rival

Colorado Mesa University set the NCAA Division II single-game baseball attendance record in an 8-5 come-from behind victory over CSU-Pueblo at Suplizio Field.

A crowd of 4,122 people watched, breaking the previous record of 3,683 set in 2005 by CSU-Pueblo in a game against Mesa.

The Mavericks (33-10, 27-6 RMAC) scored four runs in the eighth inning to rally with two outs from a 5-4 deficit. Mitch Corwin had a two-run double. Jeff Popick and Dustin Fackrell each had a RBI double.

Jeremy Ortiz (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Nolan Snell, who struck out 15 batters in 6 2/3 innings. Derek Benham picked up his eighth save of the season.
