CMU’s Hurley wins conference defensive honor

Andrew Hurley’s recovery of a fumble and 84-yard return for a touchdown against Fort Lewis on Saturday helped the Mavericks roll to a 42-0 victory over the Skyhawks.

The junior linebacker from Phoenix, Ariz., was selected the RMAC football defensive player of the week. Hurley’s touchdown put the Mavericks up 28-0 at halftime.

Colorado Mesa (5-2, 4-1 RMAC) allowed only 169 yards of offense to the Skyhawks in recording the shutout. Hurley had 11 tackles and led the team with three sacks, two of which forced fumbles.
