CMU’s Niksic comes up short at Last Chance Meet

Shane Niksic gave it another try, but it likely wasn’t enough.

The Colorado Mesa University sophomore competed in the Colorado School of Mines Last Chance Meet on Sunday in Golden, hoping he could qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Niksic took fourth in the 800-meter run in 1:53.41. The automatic qualifying time is 1:50.04. The provisional time is 1:52.50. He is ranked 27th with a best time of 1:51.30.

Alexis Skarda ran in the 1,500 run and placed fourth in 4:45.74 in her final college meet.

Taylor Allmon competed in her final college meet and placed sixth in the 100 (13.44 seconds) and second in the 200 (27.28).
