CMU’s Selsor wins another conference award
For the fifth time this season, Colorado Mesa University guard Sharaya Selsor scored 30 or more points in a game. And for the fifth time this season, she was selected the RMAC offensive player of the week.
Selsor, a 5-foot-9 senior from Glenwood Springs, had a 30-point night on Friday against Colorado School of Mines, and followed that with a 23-point game against Colorado Christian. She also had nine assists on the weekend for the second-ranked Mavericks, who won their school-record 19th straight game.
Selsor is third in the nation in scoring average (24.2 points per game), only 0.1 point out of second.
Colorado Mesa’s Mira Hopkins and Duncan Koehn each placed fifth to lead the Mavericks’ nordic ski team in the Western State Colorado University Invitational last weekend in Crested Butte.
Hopkins finished fifth and Courtney Berg was seventh in the women’s 21-kilometer race. The two teamed up to place third in the 2x3 kilometer relay on Sunday.
Koehn took fifth place in the men’s 21K skate. Koehn and Tom Morrison placed seventh in the relay.
The University of Wyoming won the men’s and women’s team titles.
The Mavericks have now qualified six skiers for nationals, which will take place at Lake Placid, N.Y. in early March. The team continues its season at the Cowboy Invitational in Laramie, Wyo., on Feb 15-16.
