CMU’s Sigl honored by RMAC
Kelsey Sigl helped the Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team get off to a 2-0 start by averaging 17 points a game last weekend and was selected the RMAC offensive player of the week.
The 6-foot senior forward from Bismarck, N.D., also averaged 7.5 rebounds a game for the Mavericks, who knocked off Simon Fraser University and Montana State University-Billings in the Dixie State Tip-Off Classic in St. George, Utah.
Sigl, the preseason RMAC Player of the Year, shot 68.2 percent from the field in the two games and made all three free throws she attempted.
Colorado Mesa’s men’s and women’s teams open the home season this weekend in the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic at Brownson Arena. The women play Hillsdale Free Will Baptist at 5 p.m. on Friday and Mid-America Christian at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The men’s team plays Northern New Mexico at 7 p.m. on Friday and Dixie State at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
